Backpacks with Purpose

At Gen U SLO, we believe meaningful change happens when people come together to serve their community. Through the generous support of the City of Arroyo Grande Community Grant Program, our members are bringing our mission to life by identifying local needs, working collaboratively, and making a positive impact in the lives of others.

This year, Gen U SLO members successfully applied for and received a City of Arroyo Grande Community Grant to support a community service initiative addressing homelessness in the Five Cities area. As part of the grant process, members researched local needs, developed a comprehensive project proposal, and presented their vision to the Arroyo Grande City Council.

 

Riley and Finn proudly represented Gen U SLO by presenting the proposal in person and advocating for the project's approval.

The awarded grant is funding the creation of backpacks filled with essential supplies for individuals experiencing homelessness. These backpacks will be distributed throughout Arroyo Grande and the Five Cities area, providing practical resources while promoting dignity, compassion, and hope for those facing difficult circumstances.

 

This initiative is more than a community service project—it is a reflection of Gen U SLO's mission in action. By partnering with the City of Arroyo Grande and working together to address a local need, our members are demonstrating the power of service, leadership, and community engagement. Through projects like this, Gen U SLO continues to foster meaningful connections, inspire civic responsibility, and create lasting, positive change throughout our community.
